World Landscapes

Welcome to worldlandscapes, the site devoted to the images of Tom Jenkins, one of Britain's foremost large format landscape photographers. I specialise in high quality, large format images of some of the world's most beautiful and remote locations. My goal is to celebrate the beauty and diversity of some of the wilder regions of the planet, areas which are increasingly under threat. A photography can never fully replicate the experience of visiting a place in special light but by using the traditional 6x17cm panoramic and 5x4 inch formats I aim to create an image that the viewer almost feels part of - as if they can reach out and touch the rocks, lakes or waves. This aim requires patience and planning, waiting for the right light conditions. The 6x17cm and 5x4inch transparencies produced then allow large images to be created without loss of detail or quality.

Most of the images on display were taken around sunrise and sunset when light quality is at its peak. Not only is there normally a warmer glow to the final picture but also levels of contrast are much higher due to the longer shadows the rising and setting sun produces.

The limited edition prints are produced using only the finest printing technologies including handprinted cibachromes. I exhibit at art/craft fairs across the country so please feel free to come and see the prints for yourself. Details of all exhibitions can be found in the news section.
